A Quiet Truth About Your Career

by | Feb 13, 2026 | Lifestyle | 0 comments

I’ve been thinking about something I see all the time in my work.

Smart, capable professionals don’t usually get stuck because they’re unqualified.
They get stuck because they wait too long to prepare.

Not because they’re lazy.
Not because they’re naïve.

Because life is busy.
Work is demanding.
And “everything seems fine… for now.”

Here’s the quiet truth:

A layoff or a reorganization could eliminate your job tomorrow.
Career readiness is an act of self-respect.

You don’t wait for a health crisis to start caring for your body.
You don’t wait for a financial emergency to start saving.

And yet—many people wait until a layoff, reorg, or bad boss forces their hand before tending to their career.

That’s when the panic sets in.
That’s when confidence wobbles.
That’s when decisions get rushed.

The most grounded professionals I know do something different.

They prepare while they’re still employed.
They keep their story clear.
They keep their network warm.
They know their value before they need to prove it.

That’s actually why I built SCORE.

Not for frantic job searches.
Not for spray-and-pray applications.

But for thoughtful, forward-looking people who want options.

If that’s you, I’ll be sharing more soon about a small March group I’m opening.
No pressure. Just preparation.

As always, I’m rooting for you—
and for a career that supports the life you want.

P.S. If your career has been on the “I’ll get to that later” list, consider this your gentle nudge. Later has a way of showing up faster than expected. If you want to talk about your career 1:1, please consider my complimentary Career Strategy Session.
